Ganja La Pass Trek is considered as one of the challenging walk around the Langtang region that lets us capture the best of nature and adventure. With the mix flavor of tea house and tented camping trekking, it is an opportunity to experience magical views of Himalayan peaks passing through beautiful lush green forests of rhododendron that blossoms during spring time, get insight into Tibetan influenced local culture, tradition and lifestyle.

Journey to Ganja la pass initiates after your arrival at Tribhuvan International airport followed by sightseeing around culturally and architecturally affluent capital city of Kathmandu. We drive through Kathmandu to starting point of our trek, Syabrubesi then the trekking trail follows the route to Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Kyanjin Gompla, passing Ganja la pass at an altitude of 5,200 meters, descend to Dukpu, Tarkeghyang, Shermanthang, Melamchi Pool Bazaar and finally drive back to Kathmandu. During our nights in Ngegang, Keldang and Dukpu we will be setting up tented camps. On other places, it will be guest house accommodation. Get yourself immersed in spectacular eye-catching views of snowcapped mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishanker, Dorje Lakpa and other neighboring peaks. Visit to numerous monasteries and awe-inspiring views makes Ganja la pass trekking unique adventure around Langtang region.

In simple terms, this trek is a strenuous and enduring adventure which will require you to be fit and able to cope with nature in tented camps at high altitude. It is recommended to start regular cardio vascular exercise and fitness routine before embarking on this trip. Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival and transfer to the hotel 3 star category

We begin our Langtang valley and Ganja La Pass Trek after your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. You will first meet/greet by our office representative who will transfer you to your respective hotel. After checking in at hotel, simply relax or take a short evening walk around streets of Kathmandu. Accomodation: Hotel in Kathmandu

Day 02: Drive Kathmandu – Syaprubesi by local bus 7 to 8 hours

We take early drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi on public bus that takes around 8 to 9 hours. You can also choose to take private jeep. It will be a picturesque drive through local villages along the Trishuli river. Part of the roads are bumpy and off road. However, it will be an worthwhile drive upon reaching our destination of the day. Driving Time: 7-9 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 03: Syabrubesi – Lama Hotel (2450 mtr) 5 to 6 hours trek

The initial part of the trail takes you through BhoteKoshi river that follows through Langtang river. Then the route gradually ascends up towards Bamoo through mostly off the beaten path. In a short while, the trekking trail takes you towards Rimche which is at 2400m above sea level along sided the river bank of Langtang Khola. We can have our lunch over here or further push ourselves at Lama Hotel which is our final stop of the day. Walking Time: 5 hours Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 04: Lama Hotel – Langtang (3450 mtr) 5 to 6 hours trek

Our Ganja La Pass trail further passes through the Gumanchowk and Horse stable or locally known as Ghoda Tabela. Further the trail ascends slowly towards gorgeous valley of Yaks. Visit this Langtang village enjoying the beautiful sceneries along the route. The Himalayan views become even more and more closer and spectacular as we ascend higher. Driving Time: 7-9 hrs. Day 05: Langtang – Kyangin Gompa (3890 mtr) 4 hours trek and climb to Kyanjin Ri (4770 mtr)

We start our day after having our early meal today. It will be mostly a short yet sweet walk today which will be like a acclimatization day. With plenty of more things and places to explore and visit, we do give a visit to famous local cheese factory and taste some of locally produced Yak cheese. Then after short walk to the top of the ridge, excellent views of Lantang Lirung is seen. Here we take rest and stay overnight where we also do visit nearby valley. Driving Time: 7-9 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 06: Kyangin Gompa – Phedi (4200 mtr) full camping (5 hours trek)

Today we also get an opportunity to  visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri which is the highest point of this trek, directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. The trail goes on ascending and the area is covered with few natural vegetation. No villages can be seen in this area, hence no lodges are available. Walking Time: 5 hrs. Accommodation: Tented camp. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 07: Phedi – Ganja la top (5100 mtr) full camping (5 hours trek)

It will be quite an challenging day today as we will be crossing through high altitude of Ganja La Pass through an altitude of 5200m. During the winter months, the route is quite impassable due to heavy snowfall. Upon reaching the top of the pass, excellent views of Langtang and nearby Himalayan range is seen. Walking Time: 6 -7 hrs. Accommodation: Tented camp. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 08: Ganjala pass (5130 mtr) to Dhukpa (4040 mtr) full camping trek (8 hours trek)

Making our way through the ridge and grass land, with amazing views of snow capped Himalayas, we finally arrive at our tented camp site in the forest. Walking Time:  7 hrs. Accommodation: Tented camp. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 09: Dukpa to Tarke Ghang ( 8 hours trek) stay at tea house

The trekking route further descends through the climbing pass of 4100m with clear excellent views of Annapurna and Everest Himalayas.  Further moving down through the pass, we make our way through beautiful pine forests and arrive at little local settlement called as Tarkeghang. Here we get an excellent opportunity to visit local monasteries and explore the Sherpa villages along the way. You will be welcomed by cheerful and friendly people of this village.Walking Time: 5-6 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L, D

Day 10: Tarke ghang to Sermanthang (5 hours trek) stay at tea house

Today will be more of comfortable walk through flat and refreshing jungle walk with river streams and waterfalls. We enter the village called Seramanthang with more plenty of exploration of another Sherpa village, local ancient monasteries with views of Jugal Himal. Walking Time: 5-6 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L,D

Day 11: Sermangthang to Kakani (5 hours trek) stay at tea house

Our Langtang valley and Ganja la trekking route gradually descends all the way to kakani  through meadows and cultivated fields. Along the way, you come across several old villages with their own unique traditions. It will quite pleasant with beautiful landscape. Walking Time: 5-6 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L,D

Day 12: Kakani to Melamchi pul bazar (5 hours trek) stay at lodge

Today we make our way through Kakani to Melamchi Pul bazar witnessing meadows and cultivated fields. Walking Time: 5-6 hrs. Accommodation: Local Lodge. Included Meal: B, L,D

Day 13: Melamchi to Kathmandu by local bus (4 hours)

After having our early meal, we take a drive along a offroad  gravel path up to Lamidanda, then follow the road up to Kathmandu. Driving Time: 4-5 hrs. Accommodation: City Hotel. Included Meal: B

Day 14: Transfer to International Airport

Finally our Langtang Ganja La pass Trek concludes today. You can either go for shopping or stroll around Kathmandu valley. After all your packing is done, our office representative will drop you towards Tribhuwan International flight so that you can catch your international flight back home. With a hope to see you again, farewell friend.  Included Meal: B
